The regularly widely applied chemical repellent is Bifenthrin, which has a residual effectiveness of as much as 5 years.

Non Repellent Chemicals

Non-repellent treatments aren’t identified by termites, and they won’t avoid the treated areas. Because of this, termites will move through the chemical and die because of contact with it. Individual termites will transfer the chemical onto fellow colony members, causing a flow on result.

Since the termites do not detect non repellents, they won’t recognise the difference between treated and untreated places, and therefore access through possible gaps is reduced.

The most frequently used non repellent chemical is Fipronil with a residual life span of as much as 8 years.

Baiting Systems For Termites

Used to eliminate termites within a structure, Above Ground Systems position bait stations directly where there is termite activity, so the white ants feed on the bait matrix instead of the structures they were eating up to now. As well as killing the termites that eat the bait at the source, there is also a compounding effect when worker termites feed the bait to further colony members.

The entire colony may be destroyed in this fashion, regardless of if the location of the colony is known or not. The area should continue to be regularly monitored so that if needed, stations can be rebaited or moved, or more can be added, depending on the observed termite activity.

In Ground Systems can be used similarly to Above Ground Systems. However they are typically installed around the property to provide early detection of termites. This method is especially useful when the building design prevents the effective use of perimeter barriers, as they stop the white ants before the perimeter is breached.
