Repellent chemicals are ideal for protecting locations because termites easily identify and strongly avoid them. However, if treated locations are compromised later or some places can’t be treated due to access problems, the white ants will detect the gaps and attain access via those areas.

The most widely used repellent is Bifenthrin, which features a lasting effect of up to 5 years after application.

Non-Repellent Chemicals

Non repellent treatments aren’t detected by termites, and they do not steer clear of the treated areas. Because of this, white ants go over the chemical and die because of exposure to it. Also, individual insects will pass the chemical to other colony members, causing a flow on result.

Because the termites do not detect non-repellents, they do not recognise the difference between treated and untreated places, and therefore access through possible gaps is limited.

The most commonly used non-repellent is Fipronil, with a residual life of up to 8 years.

Through use of an Above Ground System, termites can be exterminated from a structure by positioning bait stations directly on white ant activity, and encouraging the pests to consume the bait matrix instead of the wood they have been attacking.
