Repellent chemicals provide great protection from termites since they are easily identified and strongly avoided by them. Unfortunately, when there’s a break in the chemical, either from being unable to access all areas, or if a treated area is later compromised, termites may discover these gaps and gain entry.

Bifenthrin features a residual lifetime of up to five years and is a widely used repellent chemical currently available.

Non Repelling Chemicals

These chemicals are not detected by termites, and thus the termites do not stay away from exposure to the chemical. Once exposed, the white ants are killed, and will pass the chemical on to fellow colony members, therefore resulting in a compounding effect.

Because the termites don’t detect non-repellents, they will not recognise the difference between untreated and treated locations, and therefore access via possible gaps is limited.

Fipronil is a widely used non-repellent available today, and has a residual life of up to 8 years.

Baiting Systems For Termites

Through use of an Above Ground System, termites can be eliminated from your building by positioning bait stations directly on white ant activity, and encouraging the pests to eat the bait matrix rather than the wood they were attacking. This soon kills those termites that eat the bait, and there is also a compounding effect when worker termites return to the colony and feed the bait to fellow colony members.

In this way, the whole termite colony will be eliminated, even when you don’t know the actual location of the nest. The bait stations continue to be monitored and assessed, so that they can be added, rebaited and/or moved in response to the observed results.
